WASHINGTON (AP) - Nationals slugger Adam Dunn hit his 300th
career home run Saturday, ending Braves rookie Tommy Hanson's
consecutive scoreless innings streak at 26 with the milestone
blast.
Dunn hit a 2-2 fastball two-thirds of the way up the second deck
in right field leading off the seventh inning, cutting Atlanta's
lead to 3-1.
Dunn is the fifth major league player this season to reach the
300-homer plateau, joining Houston's Lance Berkman and Ivan
Rodriguez, and Jermaine Dye and Paul Konerko of the Chicago White
Sox.
The 29-year-old is the fifth player major league history to reach that total in less than 4,200 at-bats, succeeding in his 4,145th at-bat. The others are Babe Ruth (3,830), Mark McGwire (3,837), Ralph Kiner (3,883) and Harmon Killebrew (3,928).
