It all started for Mike back in the disco-era of the late '70s. During this
time, he caught the "happy news" broadcast bug at the University of Florida.

In 1978, he helped start WUFT's (PBS affiliate) nightly newscast with
stories concentrating on events' taking place in Gainesville, Fla.

In 1979, he spent time with WJXT-TV (CBS affiliate) in Jacksonville as well as a general assignment reporter with WCJB-TV (ABC affiliate) in
Gainesville. He worked at both places in a duel capacity.

In late 1980, Mike traveled to Witchita, Kansas to work with KARD-TV (NBC affiliate), but the Gulf Coast beckoned him back to the Sunshine State.

In 1981 thru 1986, he worked as sportscaster with WJHG-TV (NBC affiliate) in Panama City.

In 1987 thru 1992, Mike worked as a news reporter and morning anchor at WMBB-TV (ABC affiliate) in Panama City.

In 1992, he made an unsuccessful bid for the Bay County Tax Collector's position.

In 1992 thru 1998, Mike became the Northwest Florida news bureau chief for WTVY-TV based in Marianna.

In 1998 thru 1999, he joined Florida's News Channel office in Fort Myers, Fla. But, Mike would return to WTVY in 1999 and to this day he covers Northwest Florida.
