Lisa Blackwell is a reporter and producer for WTVY News 4. She joined WTVY in 2007 as a Morning Show Producer.
Lisa’s previous experience includes reporting traffic for Clear Channel Radio in Chicago. She interned at WMAQ-TV in Chicago.
Prior to entering the broadcasting industry, Lisa managed a law firm in Chicago and was a project manager for Motorola.
Lisa broke stories on the dog mauling of a little girl in Alabama and the salmonella outbreak at a plant in Blakely, Georgia. She covered series pieces on the Alabama Marine Police, Cutting Edge Medicine and Healthy Beef production.
One of her most memorable stories included a stand-up with a snake draped around her neck for the Opp Rattlesnake Rodeo.
Lisa is the 2008 recipient of the Associated Press award for Best Specialized Reporter for her series Cutting Edge Medicine and the 2008 Associated Press award for Best Photography. Lisa also received the 2009 Douglas L Cannon Medical Journalism Award for her coverage on Stereotactic Radio Surgery.
Lisa has a bachelor’s degree in Human Ecology from The Ohio State University, a Master’s of Project Management from George Washington University and Broadcasting Certification.
She is a member of the Society of Professional Journalists.
Lisa loves adventure and has been very lucky to travel to some amazing places like Hong Kong, Indonesia, Australia, England, Wales, Europe, Alaska and Hawaii.
Lisa is a native of Ohio and lived in Chicago, Illinois before moving to the Southeast. She enjoys hanging out at the beach, working out, traveling, shooting pool, golfing, cooking, gardening, shopping, playing the piano and organ and most of all….reporting the latest news.
