After growing up in Birmingham, Ala., and graduating from Troy State University in the mid 70s, Connor Vernon started his broadcasting career on the radio, at WTBF-AM in Troy.
From there, Connor worked at WKMX-FM in Enterprise, and WHHY-FM in Montgomery, before moving into television at WSFA-TV 12.
After working for WTXL-TV in Tallahassee, Fla., Connor was the chief meteorologist at the top-rated KTBC-TV in Austin, Texas, for 10 years.
While there, he published a yearly "Poor Vernon's Texas Weather Almanac" and was awarded the Texas State Teacher's Association's School Bell Award for Excellence for his work in viewer education.
He holds the Seal of Approval from the American Meteorological Society (AMS) and was chosen as one of the Lone Star Meeting Planners Association's Top 30 Texas Speakers.
Connor is president of Crosswinds Communications, a marketing company that specializes in radio, television and publishing.
His wife, Sue, teaches 4th graders at Hidden Lake Elementary School in Dothan.
