It's just as vital to get your financial accounts in order before storm season.

The US Treasury Department says it’s important for social security check recipients to switch to direct deposit before the hurricane season begins, as a way to safeguard anticipated tax refunds.

After hurricanes Katrina and Rita, nearly 85-thousand emergency payments had to be issued to evacuees who lost their delivery services.

The treasury department has made it easy to "Go Direct."

Current benefit recipients can sign up online by following the link to sign up for Go Direct is below, or you can give them a call toll free at 1-800-333-1795.
